Brief Encounter, by Noel Coward

“I’m a happily married woman. Or rather I was until a few weeks ago.”

David Lean’s classic 1945 film Brief Encounter, based on Noël Coward’s original stage play Still Life, is the starting point for this lovingly rendered homage to both great classics and is remembered as one of the most haunting love stories of all time. We’re thrilled to present this widely acclaimed production from the UK’s esteemed Kneehigh Theatre, last seen in Australia at the Sydney Festival with The Red Shoes.

Switching seamlessly between live theatre and film footage, this extraordinary retelling has been a hit both on Broadway and in the West End, taking audiences back to a bygone age of romance and the silver screen. With live musicians on stage, characters jumping in and out of film screens, and a couple so in love that they literally float on air, Brief Encounter will take you on a breathtaking, funny and poignant ride filled with Noël Coward’s debonair songs.

Nominated for four Olivier Awards, Brief Encounter is not to be missed.
