REMEMBER MONKEY MAGIC?

Live on-stage, in a large-scale production, Monkey … Journey to the West is based on China’s popular classic story of The Monkey King and remembered by generations of Australians from the 70’s cult TV show Monkey Magic.

Join our iconic hero Monkey along with his friends, Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy on their quest to return the sacred scriptures – and peace and harmony – to China. Meet heavenly beings and fallible mortals, and cheer our heroes on in their exciting battles with devious spirits and treacherous monsters.

The creation of Kim Carpenter’s multi-award-winning Theatre of Image, this highly visual and physical production combines comedy, music, song and spectacular martial arts.

Directed by John Bell (Bell Shakespeare) and Kim Carpenter, Monkey … Journey to the West features an Asian-Australian cast including parkour group Team 9Lives and Darren Gilshenan along with live music by Peter Kennard.

Bring the family on an adventure with Monkey and his friends and relive the magic!
